In the 1980s and 90s, Jochen Schweizer made a name for himself as an extreme sports and stunt legend. With spectacular world records, such as the legendary jump from the dam wall in the Verzasca Valley, which can be seen in the film “Fire, Ice and Dynamite,” he pioneered bungee jumping in Germany and became a leading figure for adrenaline and adventure.
His spectacular stunts, including a bungee jump from a helicopter with a record rope length of over 280 meters and a drop height of more than 1,000 meters, even made it into the Guinness Book of Records.
With admirable discipline and safety awareness, he developed technical expertise and mental strength. Qualities that he now shares worldwide as an entrepreneur, speaker, and mentor.
In 1985, Jochen Schweizer founded the event and advertising agency Kayak Sports Productions, laying the foundation for what would later become the Jochen Schweizer Group, which he developed into the market leader for experience gifts with his keen sense for market potential. In 1989, he opened Europe's first stationary bungee facility at the regatta course in Munich, Oberschleißheim – 40 more facilities followed.
His gift start-up revolutionized the industry from 2004 onwards with experience vouchers on the web – in 2016, as market leader, he employed over 400 people with well over 4,000 different experiences in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
In 2017, he sold the start-up to ProsiebenSat1 for €108 million.
Also in 2017, he opened the Jochen Schweizer Arena event location near Munich, featuring body flying, indoor surfing, a high ropes course, and large event spaces – a living expression of his philosophy that personal growth comes through active experience.
The Jochen Schweizer Arena covers its entire energy needs with its own open-space photovoltaic system, which generates more than twice as much electricity as the entire arena requires. All events and activities, as well as the arrival and departure of approximately 250,000 visitors annually, are thus 100% climate neutral.
Directly adjacent to the arena, Jochen Schweizer acquired 11,000 m² of building land in 2020 and sold it to Art Invest Reals Estate after successful property development. The “Experience Quartier” has been under construction there since summer 2025. With a 120-room hotel, additional conference facilities, and a 14,000 m² office complex for 800 workstations.
He was the audience favorite on the TV show “Die Höhle der Löwen” (The Lion's Den) and won the German Television Award with his colleagues in 2015.
As an author, keynote speaker, and mentor, he shares his knowledge through inspiring stories.
With over 40 years of experience at the intersection of extreme sports, entrepreneurship, and personal development, Jochen Schweizer is a mentor who draws on deep practical knowledge.
He stands for authentic leadership, characterized by courage, resilience, and self-determination, and shows how important it is to make decisions that are consistent with one's own values.
His teachings are not based on theory, but on extreme experiences: every moment of crisis, every setback strengthens the ability to realign oneself and emerge stronger. He teaches practical strategies for true mental resilience – not only for entrepreneurs, but for anyone who wants to grow in their life and career.
Jochen Schweizer has also set new standards as an author. His books on courage, personal responsibility, and entrepreneurship strike a chord with readers. His first autobiographical book, “Warum Menschen fliegen können müssen” (Why People Must Be Able to Fly), was a huge success. In it, Jochen Schweizer describes his career path from passionate kayaker and competitive athlete to successful entrepreneur.
His second book, Der perfekte Augenblick (The Perfect Moment), immediately reached number 12 on the SPIEGEL bestseller list when it was published in October 2015. This guide is about resilience and the ability to make the most of your personal strengths, overcome life crises, and successfully find a new path. His first novel, “Die Begegnung. Eine Geschichte über den Weg zum selbstbestimmten Leben” (The Encounter: A Story About the Path to a Self-Determined Life).
In this exceptionally narrated novel, Jochen Schweizer shares the experiences and insights of his life. His books are not theoretical guides. They are based on real experiences and intense life lessons. Schweizer writes as he lives: clearly, powerfully, and with a deep understanding of mental strength, the search for meaning, and motivation.
